Garricks Temple

Garrick's Temple to Shakespeare by tpholland
Actor David Garrick was a Hampton resident, building an ornate temple to Shakespeare at the foot of his garden. Garrick's Temple has been renovated following a successful lottery bid.
A favourite of King Henry VIII. In 1529, as Cardinal Wolsey fell from favour, the King seized the palace for himself and later enlarged it. Along with St. James's Palace, it is one of only two surviving palaces out of the many owned by King Henry VIII.

The riverside village of Hampton Wick offers a variety of local shops and services and, with a range of fantastic pubs, restaurants and takeaways, there really is something for everyone.

Specialist retailers include a running shop, cycle store and a guitar shop. There is a selection of food including Indian, Chinese, Pizza, Italian and Fish & Chips, with the local pubs and cafes also offering a range of traditional foods.

You will also find hotel accommodation which is ideally located for the historic Hampton Court Palace, Bushy Park and the River Thames, and a short walk away from the centre of Kingston upon Thames. Hampton Wick station offers a direct service to London Waterloo.
