About

Weddings in the Octagon Room

Situated within magical woodlands overlooking the River Thames, ceremonies at Orleans House Gallery offer the peace of the countryside within an urban landscape.

The stunningly restored Baroque Octagon room is full of character and has a rich history, dating back to 1720, when it was built to entertain such glamorous guests as Queen Caroline, wife of George II, who dined here in 1729. The space can accommodate up to 60 guests for your ceremony and the public gardens leading from the room are the perfect place to host your post ceremony drinks reception. Your guests will also be able to make the most of the unique venue and are encouraged to stroll around the grounds and explore the gallery exhibitions when they arrive.

There are plenty of beautiful reception venues along this stretch of the river, so why not catch a boat from the pier, situated just minutes’ walk from the gallery, to your evening celebrations? Or if you are looking for a smaller, more intimate lunch or afternoon tea party to celebrate your day, our Coach House can host up to 60 guests, with catering especially delivered by our on-site Stables Café events team.

For further information please contact our Business Co-ordinator, who will be happy to discuss your plans in more detail.

Whilst you are very welcome to use suppliers of your choice for post ceremony drinks receptions, the on-site Stables Café team are able to provide a range of catering opportunities, including a service only option, should you wish to provide your own refreshments on the day.
