Details

This 10-day course provides a unique opportunity to learn about the work of botanical illustrators at Kew and the methods and materials they use.

Precision is the hallmark of the best botanical illustration and a range of relevant techniques, for example pen and ink work and watercolour painting using the layered wash and dry brush technique, are demonstrated and practised during the course.

The emphasis throughout is on individual tuition and, with participants able to work at their own pace, the course is suitable for beginners and more experienced artists alike.

Included in the programme is a tutored visit to Kew’s remarkable collections of botanical illustration in the Herbarium and the Shirley Sherwood Gallery of Botanical Art.

Please note there is no weekend tuition during this course.
