Former Labour Minister Chris Mullin discusses his new book, Hinterland, an account of his life in journalism and politics. Before election to parliament, Mullin was a journalist reporting from, among other places, the wars in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. He tracked down the survivors of the CIA operation in Tibet. He is the author of three widely acclaimed volumes of diaries and the novel A Very British Coup, the television version of which won several BAFTAs and an Emmy. His investigation into the Birmingham pub bombings has been described as ‘one of the greatest feats ever achieved by an investigative reporter’.
'A treat to be savoured. What is more they are written by a creature that the public does not believe exists: an honest politician at Westminster.'
Oona King, The Times 'He will join Alan Clark in the pantheon of truly great diarists.'
Matthew D’Ancona, Evening Standard
