KAOS: Re-Inventing the Selfie at Stables Gallery
Arts & Crafts Event, Thu 6 Oct - Sun 4 Dec 2016, free entry
Orleans House Gallery,
Also at this Venue
The story of the self-portrait in the pantheon of art history is a long and illustrious one. Rembrandt, Freud, Hockney, Warhol and Perry instantly come to mind.
For the KAOS artists, painting 'the selfie' gives them a deeper understanding of their psychological makeup; and a way to express their internal lives. It provides an opportunity to explore and experiment, have fun and fantasize - creating a 'selfie' as only they can see themselves - surprising, thoughtful, and sometimes provocative.
