Clive Robinson and Helen Taylor-Robinson at Stables Gallery
Exhibition, Thu 11 Aug - Sun 2 Oct 2016
Orleans House Gallery,
Also at this Venue
Like humans, grave goods are corporeal, and like humans they decay and disappear. At the time they are made, they presumably have a use or meaning for the maker, but once they are discarded and become grave goods, they take on meaning only when found. The things we find, therefore, possess a unique potential to evoke something in us who know nothing of their original purpose, and provide us with an opportunity to reflect on their place in our culture.
This exhibition showcases a selection of things arising from the Robinsons’ lifelong involvement in writing and photography, all seemingly having something of the quality of grave goods.
