Come on a journey into the African bush with Dr. Simon Dures and learn what it takes to be a lion researcher

Dr Simon Dures spent seven years living in Tanzania, South Africa and finally Botswana; much of it spent chasing lions. His fascinating research explores the movement, dispersal and genetics of lions across southern Africa. However, far from being the cool calm and collected stereotype of a wildlife conservationist, Simon will reveal the reality of being a field biologist in Africa.

The talk will be a rare and honest insight into one of the most exciting studies about lions to date, taking us through stories of curious elephants, unseen threats, the perils of open vehicle doors, and what it really takes to get professors to understand your research. Come and learn about some of the efforts to preserve the wilderness of southern Africa and the progress being made, the dilemmas facing conservationists, and why you should never chase a leopard with a fire extinguisher.
