The Basement Door launches a series of 1000+ capacity events in The Twickenham Stadium
Live Room held on Friday 28th July and Saturday 26th August. Featuring bands from local
schools and colleges, the first line up includes She’s Seventeen, Vendetta, Maxine’s Toy, Regal
Sea, Casket of Fuses, Bird Brain Mafia and The Underground Vault. Doors open for 28th July
at 6pm .
The Basement Door is a venue committed to providing a space for young people aged 14+ to
perform or watch their favourite local bands. Kevin Westbury, Chris Hill and Katie Thompson
founded the company in 2015. It now runs as a music cafe by volunteers trained via The
Basement Door to provide them with AQA Accredited certificates as part of our ongoing support
for young people gaining employment. We created the syllabus for the barista unit award that
AQA now use nationwide.
The bands perform regularly at The Basement Door’s Richmond venue and usually attract
crowds of over 100 young people. She’s Seventeen attend Kingston Grammar, Hinchley Wood
and BIMM, they received special attention from Morgan Nicholls from Muse and Cass Browne
from Gorillaz who are currently helping the band to produce their new EP. Bird Brain Mafia
attend West Thames College and recorded their EP here.
Casket of Fuses attend both Tiffin Boys School and Hollyfield School .
