Details

Speaker: Peter Matthews

Richmond has had royal connections since the 12th century, but in the 18th century it became a fashionable place to live, attracting people such as Alexander Pope, David Garrick and Horace Walpole. Since then it has been home to many famous people. This illustrated talk describes the last resting places of many of them, mostly in the graveyards and cemeteries of the borough, but also elsewhere in London. The cast list includes celebrated artists, musicians, writers, explorers, scientists, actors and entertainers.
