About

With The Guardian, Barnes Film festival presents a specially curated selection of documentaries, made before the current war. In collaboration with the Kyiv-based Docudays UA film festival, these award-winning movies offer dramatic insight into the modern history of its culture, its people and the country at war, .

We meet 20 year-old Andriy Suleyman who escaped Syria with his family, taking refuge in his mother’s native Ukraine. Shot in striking black-and-white cut with striking archival footage, it is a sophisticated vision of war zones and the scars they leave.
