About
This eclectic programme mirrors the concept of St Mary Barnes’ classically inspired PeterCollins organ. Danksagmüller’s eerie but ultimately thrilling Estampie (2007) is based
on the first tone sequence of the Buxtehude’s Passacaglia in D minor, while Vivaldi’s Concerto
in B minor and Rinck’s Variations on a Theme by Corelli are rooted in the traditions the organ pays homage to. The instrument’s neo-classical colours are brought to the fore in McDowall’s Celebration and Langlais’ Fête, both a nod to this significant year for the Barnes Music Festival.
Peter Holder is Sub-Organist of Westminster Abbey and held the position previously at St
Paul’s Cathedral. Peter is an organ tutor at the Royal Academy of Music, and as a recitalist, Peter performs in venues around the world and is regularly featured on BBC Radio and Television broadcasts.
