Award winning virtuosic clarinettist Robert Plane returns to the Barnes Music Festival to play alongside the Sacconi Quartet, who are known throughout the world for their creativity and integrity of interpretation and also celebrate their 20th Anniversary season.
This eclectic programme begins with three works for string quartet by the ‘godfather’ of English music, Henry Purcell. British-American Rebecca Clarke studied under Stanford at the Royal College of Music, London. The quality of her music is rapidly being recognised and one of her most widely performed works is her composition for Clarinet and Viola which is in three movements. Robert Plane and the Sacconi Quartet join together for Bliss’ extremely melodious Clarinet Quintet to celebrate the music of Sir Arthur Bliss who was born in Barnes.
