Workshop/Course, Sat 22 - Sun 23 Feb 2020

Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

Extend your knowledge of traditional Jacobean embroidery with this beautiful Tree of Life design. Experience stitching with traditional crewel wool on linen twill fabric. This class covers key stitches including satin stitch, long and short, trellis, stem stitch, and seeding; plus lots of extra stitches such as detached chain stitch, raised stem stitch, buttonhole stitch, French knots and woven wheels. All the stitches in the kit will be covered in the class, with a chance to practice at home.

The tutor will demonstrate to the group, and also give plenty of individual attention to each student allowing you to develop your embroidery skills. The class is suitable for students who have some experience of Jacobean, crewelwork or surface embroidery.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
