Workshop/Course, Sat 7 Mar 2020

Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

A lovely exploration of the technique of long and short shading to create this fluffy lamb. Use beautiful, soft crewel wools in natural shades to stitch the soft wool. Detailed instructions will be given on the shading and the technique of long and short. When stitching this type of embroidery, the most important things are stitch direction, colour and shades. Each of these elements will be covered in detail to progress your skills in the technique and help you to achieve a lovely finished project.

The tutor will demonstrate to the group, and give plenty of individual attention to each student allowing you to develop your embroidery skills. This class is aimed at stitchers who want to progress further with the technique of long and short shading so it is useful to have had some experience, perhaps an introduction to Silk Shading or Jacobean class.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
