Workshop/Course, Sat 25 - Sun 26 Jul 2020

Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

Inspired by an exquisite swete bag worked in the mid seventeenth century and held in a private collection, this is an enchanting surface embroidery project for embroiderers with a working knowledge of surface stitches.
Students will revisit and finesse Stem Stitch, Chain Stitch, Satin Stitch and variations, Long and Short Stitch, Couching, Beading and Metal Thread Work, using Au Ver A Soie silk and metallic threads, beads and sequins, on a colour-printed cotton satin ground.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
