Workshop/Course, Sat 28 Mar 2020

Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

The embroidery is inspired by the beautiful beaded motifs on the front of the court gown. It is worked with surface stitching, and then embellished with glass pearls and seed beads.

The surface stitching, whipped running stitch, is done first using silk gimp thread. Then the large centre pearl and diamanté are added. Next the main sections of the bow are stitched with pearls and seed beads. Finally the central drop and the curls either side are worked using a technique called couching with 2 needles.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
