Workshop/Course, Sat 9 May 2020

Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

This majestic bird allows students to try a one-day introduction to the technique of Crewelwork. Students will work with a complementary range of Appleton’s wool on a heavy linen twill to complete the kingfisher design. During the day you will cover the following stitches: Fly Stitch, Long and Short Stitch, Trellis work, Seeding, Woven Wheels and Turkey Rug Stitch. These stitches will introduce you to working with different textures along with the reason for where they are placed. A demonstration will show how to work each stitch and then you will have the opportunity to practice so that you can complete this lovely design along with adding to your repertoire of stitches for future projects.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
