Royal School of Needlework

Apartment 12A Hampton Court Palace,
East Molesey,

This two-day course will explore many of the stitches and techniques used in traditional Crewelwork embroidery. Using 2ply Appleton crewel wools in shades of blue, pink and brown on a background of linen twill, the students will practise their skills on a beautiful chaffinch garden bird design. The stitches taught in this two day class include trellis with decorative fly stitch, satin stitch, seeding, French knots, split stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, buttonhole stitch, blanket stitch and pistil stitch.

The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
