Details

Tonight authors Louise Fein and Molly Gartland will read from and discuss their debut novels, and talk about their approaches to writing historical fiction – what drew them to tell these particular stories, how they researched their periods and what particular responsibility they felt came with deciding to write about the past.

Louise Fein’s People Like Us is set in Nazi Germany and tells the story of the love affair between the daughter of an SS officer and a young Jew.
Molly Gartland’s The Girl from the Hermitage starts during the siege of Leningrad and follows talented artist Galina out of that nightmare and all the way through Russian history right up to the 21st century.

?Fein and Gartland are both graduates of the MA Creative Writing: First Novel degree at St Mary’s University, where these novels were developed.
Both authors will also be running a Writing Workshop as part of the Local Author Day at Twickenham Library on Saturday 21 November.
