After her beautiful Valentine’s show in 2018, we are delighted to welcome back to the Orange Tree the multi-award winning jazz singer Claire Martin OBE. She will be joined by pianist and arranger Martin Sjöstedt, for a very special concert celebrating the release of her eagerly awaited new album Believin’ It, released by Linn Records in May 2019.

The record was conceived and recorded in Sweden, in collaboration with Sjöstedt, one of Europe’s most gifted and talked-about jazz musicians and arrangers. It features imaginative new arrangements of contemporary material, encompassing five decades from the 70s to the present day. Claire will be performing songs from the album, which include unique reworkings of ‘Broken Wings’ by Mr. Mister and ‘I’m Not in Love’ by 10cc, as well as favourites by Joni Mitchell, Ivan Lins and Pat Metheny. Claire also remembers legendary singer Lena Horne with her own arrangement of ‘Come Runnin’’ and pays tribute to Norway’s Karin Krog with ‘Cherry Tree Song’.

Martin’s long-term commitment to championing the work of songwriters was recognized by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) with a Gold Badge Award in October 2018, and in November she was awarded the British Jazz Award for Vocalist of the Year, for an incredible eighth time.
