The Castle of Otranto at Strawberry Hill House
Play, Fri 4 Nov 2016
268 Waldegrave Road,
Written by Horace Walpole in 1764, The Castle of Otranto was the first gothic novel. In the 19th Century it was reimagined and performed as a play and at this unique event Pollock's Toy Theatre will present Otranto the play in its original form. Using a travelling theatre, the performers will give a short historical introduction, explain topical jokes of the period and encourage the audience to see how Victorian theatre tricks work
