Welcome to Kew

When you arrive at Kew Gardens station, you are greeted with one of the most attractive shopping areas in London. A wide range of independent shops, restaurants and cafés sit in the heart of the village, providing a wonderful selection of unusual gifts and culinary delights.

Kew Green is a traditional village green near the River Thames. The impressive building of St Anne’s Church dominates the green and is the burial place of several artists and important botanists including Thomas Gainsborough.

A lovely tranquil walk along the Thames towpath can be taken by heading downstream towards Mortlake, passing behind The National Archives.

At Kew Gardens Pier you can catch a river bus or a tourist ferry and be taken slowly up the Thames in much the same way that the Royal visitors to Kew travelled.

Kew is world famous for the Royal Botanic Gardens, where 300 acres (120ha) of land and splendid glasshouses contain over 40,000 species of plant life and 9,000 trees.
