Talk:Introduction to Ancient Egypt at Richmond upon Thames

Talk, from 27 Jan 2022

In light of COVID-19, please make sure you check with your travel and accommodation providers before travelling.

In this course we will introduce the major figures and monuments of ancient Egyptian history. From Egypt's unification around 3100 BC we will explore Egyptian history through to the death of Cleopatra VII in 30BC. We will study both royal tombs such as the pyramids of Giza and the Valley of the Kings and the scenes of private tombs. We consider also the female pharaoh Hatshepsut and the so-called Heretic pharaoh Akhenaten. This course will be online on Thursdays except for an in-person visit to the Biritsh Museum in London on Friday 4th March. The course can be taken either standalone or as a starting point for further study of the subject.
