About
Take your machine sewing to the next level by coming along to our fun Sunday afternoon workshop and learning various techniques for adding in zips, before then making yourself a handy zipped purse.
In this 3 hour workshop with expert sewer and textile conservationist Gill Cochrane, you’ll be taken through all the steps to create your own personalised case, useful for storing glasses, pens, crochet hooks and more.
As well as learning how to insert zips into your work, you’ll line and top stitch your purse neatly. You’ll also be taught how to change to a different machine foot and use a zipper foot.
All fabric, zips and thread are provided, but feel free to bring along your own too.
If you’ve attended one of our beginners’ workshops, or have rusty sewing skills you’re keen to revive, this is the perfect workshop for you!
Don’t worry if you don’t have a machine of your own, as we can lend you one (for a small fee of £10). However, we do recommend that you bring your own machine if you have one, as Gill can then be on hand to help you familiarise yourself with its features.
All materials and lots of coffee, tea and cake are included.
