Orval Day 2026 at Brewery Market

About

Legend tells that deep within the springs of Orval Abbey, a grieving widow lost her golden wedding ring. She prayed to God for its return, and from the waters a trout appeared, holding the ring safely in its mouth. In gratitude she declared this valley truly golden — Val d'Or — and the name Orval was born.

On Orval Day 2026 we invite you to step into this story with us at Brewery Market. For one evening, everything we serve will be created with Orval itself — every dish on the menu cooked with this revered Trappist ale and served alongside it. Each bite and sip will be a reminder of the mystery and devotion bound up in its history.

We hope to also share with you Orval's elusive cheese, rarely seen outside Belgium, to complete the experience. Between courses we'll explore the myths, history, and monastic traditions of the Abbey, before taking you on a virtual tour that brings the spirit of Orval to life.

This is more than a tasting — it is a celebration of legend, faith, and flavour. Raise a glass with us, and let the story of the fish and the ring live on in Twickenham.
