About
Paterson Joseph returns to The Exchange with another iteration of his show, this time with local connections. Born on a Slave ship in the Atlantic ocean in 1729, Sancho became a writer, composer, shopkeeper and respected 'man of letters' in 18th Century London, and one of the first recorded people of African heritage to vote in Britain. Part-biography and part-dramatized readings from Paterson's acclaimed novel, 'The Secret Diaries of Charles Ignatius Sancho', this is a special iteration for Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival, as Joseph focuses on the natural landscape of Richmond, which was also Sancho's home.
