The Eel Pie - Twickenham

About

If you’re looking for pub with a mix of old and new, with a passion for both rugby and music, then the Eel Pie is a must on your next visit to Twickenham!

The pub takes its name from Eel Pie Island, so named due to the popularity of the pies served to day-tripping Londoners who would come down by paddle steamer to the old Eel Pie Hotel.

Indeed the island became a haven for musicians during the 1950’s jazz scene and latterly a hangout for the early rock and roll scene in the 1960’s with Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton, amongst others, all kick-starting their careers there and the back room of the Eel Pie pays tribute to the island’s musical glory days and often features live music.
