Observational Illustration & Transformation of Everyday Objects

About

Develop your illustration skills by learning how to observe the objects around you and use them as a starting point for creative ideas.

In this one-day workshop, you’ll work from real objects to explore fundamental artistic principles including emphasis, contrast, proportion, movement and negative space. Using pencil, pen and charcoal, you’ll develop your understanding of line and form, light and dark, proportion and scale.

You’ll then use your observational drawings as the basis for creative interpretation, exploring stylisation and imaginative transformations – from turning a vase into a house to reimagining a telephone as an imagined animal. The workshop brings technical drawing skills and imagination together, helping you create more detailed and creatively developed illustrations.
