Suitable for adults, beginners and those with some experience. A little general drawing experience would be helpful but is not essential.

Spread across three full days,10am-4pm, this portraiture course focuses on drawing the human head and expands your knowledge of anatomical structure, facial proportions and features. You'll learn how to compose a portrait to express mood and reveal character. You'll explore a range of linear and tonal methods and practise different techniques. You'll also draw from a variety of clothed models and discover how to depict the head from different viewpoints.

You'll spend two half-day sessions gaining an understanding of structure, features and proportions. For these sessions, you'll study and draw from skulls and simplified sculptures of the head. During the other parts of the course, you'll draw from live models.

All participants will work from an easel, either sitting or standing
