Twilight Tour Image Strawberry Hill House

About

On Valentine's Eve or Valentine's Day immerse yourselves in a world where romantic beauty and gothic fantasy combine, as you take an atmospheric journey into the past, hearing remarkable stories from across the centuries, complete with intrigue, passion, mystery and drama.

Guided by our resident expert, Mark Lambert, the Strawberry Hill Gothic Romance Tour will reveal how Horace Walpole's fairytale castle inspired him to write the very first Gothic romance novel, The Castle of Otranto, and take you through the tangled histories of his family as you explore different rooms and parts of this atmospheric house.

Tour Times

6.30pm arrival for a complimentary glass of fizz. The tour begins at 7pm and lasts for approximately an hour.

Derek Purnell, Former Director of Strawberry Hill House : “Whether you’re trying to escape the usual Valentine’s Day festivities, or looking for an unusual and fun way to begin a romantic evening together, our Gothic Romance Tour is a wonderful introduction to the House and its incredible history, while also indulging your imagination in the genre devoted to intense emotions, that combines terror with pleasure, the macabre with the darkly picturesque. And where better to do all that, than here?!”
