Let’s Get Creative: South Asian Classical Dance Workshop

About

Join us for a fun, immersive day for all the family.

Led by zerOclassikal a south Asian classical music platform and AKDC STUDIO – a south Asian dance company – families are invited to a day of music, dance and performance.  This activity is part of High Tide Festival.

Let’s Get Creative: South Asian Classical Dance Workshop

10.30am – 11.15am & 11.30am – 12.15pm

Put on Ghunghroo’s  (bell anklets), move to the mesmerising rhythms of the ‘tabla’ and the enchanting strings of the sitar, and step into character as the story unfolds through Kathak dance.

Join this joyful, hands-on introduction to the vibrant world of South Asian classical music and dance for children and families. Open to all ages.

Explore movement, storytelling and live music through interactive workshops led by experienced artists. Children will have the chance to try traditional instruments, learn simple dance movements and discover the rich cultural traditions behind the performances in a fun and welcoming environment.

Performance

12.30pm  | AKDC STUDIO – People who Lived in the Skies (25 min)
