About

The Schools Concert is the culmination of a creative project with local primary schools during which the children learn a piece that they perform during the Festival. It has become an integral part of the Festival with our goal being to involve and in some cases introduce primary-aged children to the joy of music-making of high quality.

The project is run in collaboration with St Paul’s School who are involved in workshops in the schools in advance of the school choirs all coming together for this concert. The theme of Gustav’s Great Galactic Adventure will be a fun look at the much-loved and most famous of Gustav Holst’s compositions The Planets with other pieces connected with astronomy, astrology and space travel.
