About

“Smash Hits – Back to the 80s!” with Betty & the Rabbits and Extreme Ways

The 1980’s were the most diverse and extravagant decade in recent cultural history and arguably the greatest era of music of all time. It was a time of big hair, big shoulder pads and big personalities… If you grew up in this period, you know what a fabulous time it was to be alive.

The 80’s was an extremely transformational chapter for the music industry, and we continue to feel its effects today. This is the decade when MTV launched, introducing the concept of music video as art, and every DJ topping the charts today can thank the 80s for making synthesisers and other digital sounds mainstream. The decade brought us so much variety when it came to musical genres.…rock, pop, new wave, new romantics, ska, reggae, goth, and electronica all topping the charts in an eclectic mix that has paved the way for many modern artists and has led to a resurgence in popularity with the younger generation today.
