Songbirds - A Celebration of Female Music Icons

About

An uplifting journey of song, celebrating some of the most iconic female singers and songwriters ever known. Devised and performed by acclaimed vocalists Mary Bourne and Jessa Liversidge, as well as special guest performers. Following the resounding sell-out success of Songbirds last October, Mary and Jessa are delighted to be bringing their 2025 version of the show to Hampton Hub.

From classic pop songs through the decades (Karen Carpenter to Dolly Parton, Kate Bush to Annie Lennox, Amy Winehouse and more) to the hilariously clever comedy of Victoria Wood, as well as original songs by Mary and Jessa, this evening features a huge range of songs and styles, all brought together to celebrate the voices of women through the decades, and performed with a superb band of live musicians.

Lots of songs you know and love, with a few surprises thrown in.

Mary Bourne is a singer and songwriter, who has worked as a community musicIan for the past 20 years, from working with the homeless to leading choirs for HRH Queen Elizabeth II, performing and producing shows at the Rose Theatre Kingston as well as performing at many local music venues and events. Her own songwriting has been featured on BBC national radio. Mary's passion for singing and performance is contagious, and she has been an inspiration for thousands of singers, enabling them to find their own voice.

Audience feedback - "Talented and authentic singer/songwriter - clever use of lyrics, reminiscent of Joni, with a jazz vibe."

Jessa Liversidge is a York-based performer and singing leader, known for her heartfelt and versatile vocals, and more recently, her outdoor #fieldsing and her skill with a loop pedal. She has taken her one-woman shows to venues from quirky cafes and theatres to Castle Howard, as well as leading numerous choirs, groups, and workshops, spreading her joy of singing to all generations. She is a regular guest on BBC local radio and was awarded 'Highly Commended' in the 2022 Make a Difference awards for her work bringing people together in song.

Audience feedback - "Stunning voice. Effortless acoustic style. You invite the audience into every song and the words come alive when you sing."

Do join Mary, Jessa, and their special guests for this unmissable celebration, a unique collaboration of vocal classics with original songs.
