Richmond upon Thames is the perfect place for exploring. It has 260 public rights of way and five signposted walking routes, inlcuding strategic walking routes of The Thames Path, Capital Ring, London Outer Orbital Path (LOOP),and two shorter paths of the River Crane Walk and Beverly Brook Walk.
Self-guided and guided walks are also available and popular in the borough. The long established Richmond Heritage Guides organise a wide range of walks throughout the year. Come to explore and join one of their themed walks. Private walks and talks are also available by prio arrangement.
Additionally, below we have suggested just few of the many walks provided by the National Trails organisation.
1. The London Outer Orbital Path - the path is a 240-kilometre (150 miles) signed walk along public footpaths, and through parks, woods and fields around the edge of Outer London, described as "the M25 for walkers".
2. Capital Ring - this walking route offers you the chance to see some of London's finest scenery. It is called a "ring" because the route completely encircles inner and central London.
3. Thames Path National Trail - first proposed in 1948 opened in 1996 this beautiful route through the peaceful water meadows, unspoilt rural villages, historical towns and cities, and finally through the heart of London to end at the Thames Barrier in Greenwich.
In addition to 260 public rights of way, there are signposted walking routes in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
