Music - Bands, Thu 17 Oct 2019

Very much part of the London Rhythm and Blues scene in the 1960s, and cited as an inspiration to Van Morrison, David Bowie and Thee Headcoats, The Downliners started out in Twickenham, on Eel Pie Island and subsequently took over The Rolling Stones' residency at Ken Colyers Club in London's West End. The Downliners still attract crowds of thousands in Sweden where their song Little Egypt reached Number 1 in the Hit Parade. The Band still features 2 original members, Don Craine and Keith Grant.
