About

They say the first casualty of war is truth but the first casualty of the withdrawal from Afghanistan was order. The government's own investigation said it was "Missing in Action". Ministers went on holiday. Interns ran departments. And when those on the ground inside Kabul spoke up, they got pilloried.

Pen Farthing was one such man. After the Taliban invaded, he stayed behind to get the staff and their families, and some of his charity's animals to freedom. As a former Royal Marine commando who had fought the Taliban, he was in considerable danger himself. Yet the British government accused him of preferring Pets Over People.

Join Pen Farthing in discussion about his journey rescuing animals and people from war zones.
