Kennington Park War Memorial from speaker's collection

About

The story of a South London territorial battalion, the 24th (County of London), the London Regiment, (The Queen's) in the Great War including their VC winner, Lance Corporal Leonard Keyworth, how its soldiers were commemorated and how the battalion is still remembered locally.

Marietta has long been passionate about history, reading it at university. She has made many trips to Gallipoli and the Western Front. These trips often related to researching a proposed biography of her grandfather who was killed at the Battle of Loos. She also leads guided walks and gives talks on the Great War, her family's history, and Victorian architecture. Marietta joined the WFA after her first visit to the Loos battlefield and is now a committee member of the London branch.
