From Sherlock to Spiritualism - Arthur Conan Doyle and the Search for Spirits

About

Discover how Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became one of Britain's most famous believers in Spiritualism. Explore his role in the Cottingley Fairies controversy and his complex friendship with the legendary illusionist and outspoken sceptic Harry Houdini.

Historian Dr Goss draws out the tension between Holmes's cold logic and his creator's yearning for proof of an afterlife - exploring grief, war, religion, and the rise of Spiritualism in British society
