Theatre at the Library is our latest new writing event In a specially installed theatre set up  (with bar!) in Whitton Library. A great chance to see plays from award winning writers  Andi Courtland, Emma Dawson, Annie Power, Nilgün Yusuf and a first play from local Teddington writer Trish Bertram. There is a fantastic cast starring Cranks (fka Rebecca Crankshaw), Patrick Ashe, Niamh McEnhill and Maiya Louise Thapar.  Performances are October 14 at 7.30pm and Thursday October 15 at 3pm and 7.30pm Tickets are  £15 from ticketsource.co.uk/optik-theatre. The Writers
ROBERT FREW
Robert a playwright based in Scotland and East Sussex. His one act play 'The Palace Garden' was a winner of the Scenesaver 'Just Write' International Playwriting Competition and was performed at The White Bear Theatre in March 2023. His short play 'Batavian' was shortlisted for the Windsor Fringe, Kenneth Branagh Award in 2020 and his monologue 'The Gradations in Between' made the shortlist for the Hive North 'OutStageUs ' event in 2023.
ALAN KILPATRICK
Alan is an Irish/ Native American playwright (Cherokee) who lives in Belgium. He's authored some thirty plays which have been staged in Los Angeles, New York, and London.
His published works include: NEUROTIC MONKEYS", (Next Stage Press) and "SHADE", an historical drama, (Scripts for Stage)
CAROL SAINT MARTIN
Carol is a screenwriter, playwright, critic and blogger. She has been a finalist on several writing competitions and last year, she wrote and starred in a short film due to be released in 2024. She blogs about films and pop culture in general.
AMELIA STEPHENSON
Amelia Stephenson is a writer and performer from Epsom. She is co-creator of the comedy trio Quirks and Foibles (@quirksandfoiblessketch) who are 3-time Funny Women Award nominees. She also created 'The Random Sketch Generator' podcast where every month she writes and performs new sketches to a completely randomised theme. In 2018 she won the Hebden Bridge Playwright Award. Her work has also been nominated for a Chorts Award and featured on BBC's The DMs Are Open sketch show.

OPTIK THEATRE
Known originally just as Optik (from the German for 'optics') the company started work in the 1980s with director Barry Edwards joined by artists including Heather Ackroyd, Cornelia Parker and Adrian Rawlins. (More information on the history of the company is available at Unfinished Histories Optik)
With a mission to be special, to excite and to entertain Optik went on to tour its award-winning theatre to venues and arts spaces around the world. More recently the company has initiated a series of local performance projects in Richmond upon Thames including three productions specially created for the Borough's WW1 Centenary programme. In another project called The Script Room Optik Theatre has developed an exciting showcase for new theatre writing bringing over thirty new plays to Richmond and Whitton libraries.
