About

This much acclaimed Trio will be recreating some of the jazz legend Chet Baker's finest studio and live recordings. For this unique show the Retro Chet Trio featuring trumpeter and bandleader Geoff Varrall, pianist Caroline Cooper and double bassist Paul Michael will be joined by special guest vocalist Katrina Likhtman to showcase some of Chet's vocal numbers from the late 1970's/early 1980's including material from the iconic album "Mr B". As Matthew Ruddick notes in his excellent book on Chet Baker, 'My Funny Valentime', "Mr B" is a beautiful album in which Chet moves away from his 'bop' orientated sound of the late 70's to a softer, more melodic tone that was to become a feature of his later recordings.
