Ham House

About

Get into the Christmas spirit with a day out at beautifully decorated Ham House in Richmond. Follow our jolly robin as he flies from room to room on as adventure to reunite the phoenix with her tail.

Take in twinkling candlelight and fairy lights, Christmas trees and aromatic greenery as you discover the magnificent Stuart interiors and spot stunning paper bird sculptures along the way, created especially for us by a local artist.

This year’s Christmas story, The Robin’s Tale, is inspired by a newly conserved lacquer screen, which will be on display.

Enjoy merry songs as you wander through the rooms and find a book tree in the Library, sugar banquet display in the historic kitchen and a wish tree in the Duchess’s Bathroom, plus decorations made by our volunteers in the Volury.

Family-friendly activities inside the house, open 11.30am–3.30pm (last entry 3pm):

– Follow The Robin’s Tale through the house as you discover Christmas trees and decorations.

– Settle into a cosy reading nook in the Back Parlour, then head below stairs for more activities, including dressing up and letter writing to the North Pole.

Take a winter stroll in the gardens, open 10am–4pm (last entry 3.30pm) and browse Christmas gifts, including our home accessories and fashion, in our shop, open 10.30am–3.30pm.

The Orangery Café is open 10am–4pm daily and serves light lunches, warming drinks and snacks.

Please note, Ham House and Garden is closed on 24 and 25 December.
