About

This is a two-session course occurring across two mornings, 10am-12noon, on both Monday 18th August and Tuesday 19th August 2025. From start to finish, this empowering course guides budding writers in seeing themselves as authors, with stories well-worth telling and books they can proudly call their own. An Island Adventure Join children's author and creative writing tutor, Lucy Hope, and teacher and writer, Jane Atkin, to write and illustrate a summer adventure story set on a remote island. Together we'll talk about how to write an exciting story your readers will love, conjuring up a fabulous island setting, unforgettable characters and a page-turning plot! Once you've written your story (or have made a good start on it), we'll talk about creating a cover design and title, so you have either a completed book to take home at the end of the two sessions, or a book that you can continue to write throughout the summer. For children aged 7–12 who enjoy reading, writing and using their imagination. No previous writing experience needed. Come with your curiosity and eagerness to dive into stories!
