Normansfield Theatre

About

This special charity production of the Christmas classic is presented by Flying Pickle Performing Arts as a solo show. The show is performed by actor and Flying Pickle head of studio, Sam Devereaux. Sam will use his experience as a theatre actor and audiobook narrator to bring the novella to life all by himself, just as Dickens himself once did. The venue is the wonderful Grade II listed Victorian Normansfield Theatre in Teddington, one of only two such theatres in private hands in the UK. The production is directed by Flying Pickle Head of Theatre, Georgie Devereaux.

The matinee will be a relaxed performance. The aim of this performance is to make the show more accessible to audience members who might find a traditional theatre show uncomfortable or disorienting to watch. This means the auditorium will not be as dark and music and sound effects during the show will not be as loud. The seating arrangements will be more informal and audience members may bring cushions or blankets and sit on the floor if that is more comfortable. This relaxed performance will be especially suitable for audience members who have additional needs including ASD and, of course, Down’s syndrome

Sam is performing to support the Down’s Syndrome Association. The Down’s Syndrome Association is the only charity in the UK providing support for all aspects of Down’s syndrome. They believe that people who have Down’s syndrome should be fully included in their communities. Their vision is to see people who have Down’s syndrome living healthy and meaningful lives in the community.
