About

“Imagine taking the greatest punk, new wave and ska tracks ever recorded, squeezing them onto a classic double LP, inviting your mates round for a few beers and turning the volume up to 11. That’s exactly what watching Class of ‘79 feels like” Keith

Newman - Radio Northumberland

Unlike most tribute acts, the members of Class of ‘79 have decades of experience, playing in the bands who provide much of their set list, giving them a pretty unrivalled authenticity. Steve Crittall has played with The Godfathers, The Selecter and UK Subs, while Phil Thompson is well known for his flamboyant guitar work with The Rezillos, Department S and The Valors. Behind the kit, Simon Bowley brings almost three decades of experience from Eddie & the Hot Rods and Department S, and bassist Mike Lea’s musical journey has taken him from Manchester favourites Sugar Bullets to post-punk pioneers Department S.
