A Patchwork of Stories

About

A patchwork and quilting workshop for adults.

Do you have a collection of ties or textiles belonging to a beloved family member that are too precious to part with, that spend their days tucked away in a box?

Join us for a soulful, hands-on workshop where we transform those cherished silks and patterns into a stunning patchwork heirloom. This class isn’t just about sewing; it’s about honouring a legacy. We will guide you through the specialized techniques of working with tie fabrics—from stabilizing delicate silks to designing a layout that lets every memory shine.

  • Expert Guidance: Learn how to deconstruct, interface, and quilt with bias-cut fabrics with Valerie from Creative Quilting, East Molesey
  • A Shared Space: Connect with others while crafting a one-of-a-kind tribute.
  • Beginners are welcome, but you must have experience of using a sewing machine please as this project will be machine sewn on using machines we provide

Bring your ties and your stories; leave with the beginnings of a legacy.

What do I need to bring?

  • at least 10 ties or a similar amount of other material that has sentimental meaning to you
  • rotary cutter, spare blades and a cutting mat
  • Pens, pencils and a notebook, in case you would like to take notes
  • Pins, and any tools from your sewing kit that you would like to bring along to use
