About

Axel Scheffler will discuss his work as an illustrator, his career, and his creative journey with Alison Green, his long-time publisher and the author of the text for his successful book Welcome, created in support of Three Peas. Founded ten years ago at DSL, the charity is dedicated to supporting refugees who have been forced to flee their homes. A member of the charity will give a brief overview of their current projects. The conversation between Axel and Alison, moderated by Matthew Hollis, will be followed by a Q&A session. We are also delighted to offer you the opportunity to view an exhibition of Axel's original illustrations from Welcome as a special highlight of the evening. At the end of the event, Axel and Alison will be available for book signings. Axel as well as DSL are committed to supporting independent local bookstores. In collaboration with Richmond based children's and YA book shop The Alligator's Mouth, we will offer a selection of Axel's books for purchase for the signing session. We kindly ask for your understanding that only those books will be eligible to be signed that night. Please register via the following Eventbrite link: AS Welcome 23.02.2026 Admission is free, we kindly ask for registration in order to gauge interest. The event language is English.
