Queer Marble Hill Guided Tour

About

Celebrate Pride Month with us! Join our Queer Marble Hill guided tour of Marble Hill House that uncovers its hidden LGBTQ+ stories. Explore the lives, relationships and social world of Henrietta Howard and her circle, and discover how LGBTQ+ history is woven into the house, its collections and its past.

In an era when discrimination and harsh punishment forced many LGBTQ+ people into secrecy, this tour draws on letters and contemporary accounts to reveal what was hidden. While modern labels don’t always fit, we explore how these individuals might be understood today and how interpretations of their lives have changed over time.

Focusing on four fascinating figures and objects around the house, this interactive one-hour tour invites discussion and fresh perspectives on LGBTQ+ history.
