The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintains war graves, both British and Canadian, in the churchyard. Our Churchyard Officer can help families locate graves. There is also an online search facility (by name) on our website at www.stjam
The church is 150 years old, but equipped for modern use. There is pew seating with additional chairs for 250 people (fire service capacity 330). There is a stage area at the front of the church and a 12-channel mixer desk and stage box suitable for music concerts. The church has stage lighting. There is a three-manual organ that has recently undergone a major renovation. There are toilets, including one for wheelchair access, and onsite catering. The church is planning major renovations to replace the pews with more flexible seating and build a kitchen area. The church is available to hire for concerts, meetings, exhibitions, events. It is regularly used for recitals, choral concerts and pop concerts. The church also hosts a Rock Choir and a toddlers' playgroup. The church hall is next door, linked by a covered walkway. The hall offers additional toilets, a kitchen, and two areas for hire: main hall and a smaller room. The hall is used during mornings by a nursery school and is available for hire. It is used widely by the community for yoga and pilates groups, a karate club, a youth club, Brownies, art school, NHS services. It is also used for one-off children's parties, anniversary parties, wakes, exhibitions.
